John McCain speaking at a NRA assembly yesterday came on strong to two women protesters (Medea Benjamin is one) playing the tough presidential candidate. Many of you don't agree with the tactics of these women - I do. I'm way beyond being a nice woman of a certain age and wish I had the courage of Medea Benjamin. The other woman - who is taller than the guards taking her out - I don't know. Follow the guards out the door here.
This is also on Sen. McCain's website - so he is proud of his speech. Putting aside the fact that these women disrupted a meeting and an argument could be made they put themselves in the line of fire - sure, they do this all the time -- is he equating these women with the Democratic Senators whose recent bills failed to pass. Not likely - they're more courageous than many of those in Congress no matter the party. Or...and this is what gets me...is he saying it to the American people if one believes the polls. A senator of the United States puffing up and saying: He is going to beat us. When he says "We don't choose to loose this time, is he still fighting the VietNam War. It's hard work fighting two unpopular wars - gotta give him that.
Here is the video - also on his website.
